Bata Stadium gets greenlight to host PSL matches

Gweru- Sheasham FC has confirmed that Bata Stadium has been approved by ZIFA First Instance Board to host Castle Lager Premiership games beginning this weekend.

The stadium was granted the greenlight to host Premier League matches yesterday, The Midweek Watch can reveal and log leaders, Highlanders FC will battle against Sheasham FC aka Construction Boys at ‘new’ arena.

Speaking of the development, in a communique today Sheasham media and liaison officer, Elias Maginya said the club was excited to host its first match at the ground.

“As a club we are delighted with the approval, and we are looking forward to playing our first league match at Bata Stadium on Sunday against Bosso.

“We urge all our fans to come in their numbers and cheer the Construction Boys. It has not been easy for many as they had to endure the long journey to Zvishavane, Mandava Stadium to watch the team in action.

“The Executive would like to also extend their profound gratitude to club President Clever Mandaza, Sheasham Group of Companies, Nichrut Lodges, George Mitchells, Glow Petroleum, PSL, ZIFA, fans and all stakeholders for the support rendered as Bata Stadium underwent major renovations,” read the communique

Sheasham FC Chairman, Reginald Chidawanyika could not hide his joy as he expressed his gratitude to all key stakeholders.

“We are really, really excited on the news of homologation of Bata Stadium. As chairperson and on behalf of the committee we are indebted to our principal sponsors Sheasham Investment for such a project to be completed in such a short period of time.

‘We are indebted to the president of Sheasham FC, Mr Clever Mandaza and the presidium of Sheasham FC. We are indebted to our supporters who have been patient enough to wait for this day and make all sacrifices as the team was using its temporary home Mandava Stadium.

“We are indebted to everyone who placed a hand on the completion of the stadium. The technical team led by John Nyikadzino, the players for the endurance and delivering in difficult circumstances playing home games away from home. It’s only befitting that we do ground breaking by hosting the traditional giants of football Highlanders FC,” he added.
