Barmlo scoops Great Dyke Businessman of The Year

ZVISHAVANE – Barmlo Investments founder Dr. Banabasi Marambire has won the best Businessman of the Year Award.

He was nominated at the fifth edition of the Great Dyke Awards held at a Palawani Lake World Resort on Friday.

Marambire won the award for the Best Businessman in the Great Dyke region.

Barmlo supplies hardware such as building material; timber, steel iron sheets and brick moulding. It is also a construction company.

The company has over 500 employees and is spreading its wings across the border into Botswana and Zambia.

Barmlo Construction offers flexible construction packages like pay as you go, which allows clients to pay for labor and materials per stage as work progresses.

The company also offers Kumusha Development Scheme (K.D.S), a fix and supply facility with tailored payment terms.

In addition, the company also offers advance payments, where customers will be paying monthly installments towards their  projects with work commencing once a predetermined amount is reached per stage.

He was all smiles after getting the coveted accolade at the prestigious ceremony held in the home of precious minerals in the country.

The Great Dyke Awards are held to honor people who would have excelled in their respective sectors of the economy and they are held annually for the region.

 The awards are organized by YA FM and Great Dyke TV with the objective of promoting agriculture and mining as businesses.

The Friday function had Mimosa Mining Company General Manager Stephen Ndiyamba as its guest of honour and there were more than 10 other categories where people received awards. The function also coincided with the Yah FM’s 10th anniversary celebrations.

In an interview with The Midweek Watch, Marambire thanked members of the public for  having trust in his business and applauded their contributions in supporting the business.

“I want to thank the Zimbabweans who voted for me and the Great Dyke Awards organisers for nominating me.

“Above all I want to thank God for providing wisdom and glorify my organisation and the growth that we witnessed for the past decade. We are now building houses in every province and every district in Zimbabwe.

Both urban and rural areas. Residential and commercial buildings.  It can only be God who give such blessings not works of man. I also want to thank the Government for providing conducive environment for local citizens to operate businesses freely and made it easier to obtain licenses in various sectors of the economy. I am grateful to receive this award. We don’t take such an opportunity and recognition for granted,” he said.

The company started in 2011 with two branches in Mberengwa District and has now expanded nationwide.

Marambire’s mission is to grow a wholly indigenous empire to provide business solutions and wealth creation as well as uplifting and changing the face of communities in the country through construction. 

To date the company has over 800 employees and is also spreading its tentacles in the region with Botswana, Zambia among other regional countries.

Apart from being recognised in different platforms in Africa through its participation in the Jac Ma Foundation and the Africa Netprenuer Initiative Prize in 2016 the company won the first prize in the Global Shapers initiative under the construction category.
