BUHERA – Aspiring Zanu PF Member of Parliament for Buhera North, Amos Mukomba has sets sights on transforming Murambinda Town Board into the fastest growing in the country.
Addressing the voters at a campaign rally held at Mavhaire Business Centre last Monday, Mukomba said that only a visionary leader can bring development to the communities through proper utilization of the 20% revenue from the three mines in Buhera North.
“I was happy to learn that Murambinda which was accorded a town status is now in Buhera North, if you elect a visionary leader, Murambinda will become the fastest growing town in Zimbabwe.
“We have three big mines in Buhera North, two of them have been operating since time immemorial. 20% of the revenue attained from our resources should be channeled to community development.
“I pledge to be a visionary leader who will ensure that the 20% is put to good use, we should have tarred roads from the highway to the mines and state of the art clinics in our communities where the mines are operating from,” said Mukomba.
Buhera North Constituency incorporates the newly established Sabi Star lithium mine which was said to be raking in excess of US$200 million per year, Shava and Dorowa mines which produce phosphate used in the manufacturing of fertilizers.
“We should see improved life and infrastructure in the surrounding areas, without a visionary leader that can never be achieved,” he said.
Speaking to the Mid-week Watch on the sidelines of the campaign rally Mukomba described himself as a servant of the people who is there to serve the people without any personal benefits in return.
Before he joined the race, he has always offered a helping hand to the communities of Buhera North by assisting during funerals, donating food, cement and providing transport for mourners.
He said that in 2022 he also assisted in transporting gravel and sand for the rebuilding of classroom blocks at two Buhera schools, St Albans and Nyamasanga Primary schools which were destroyed by cyclone Idai.
Other candidates who are also vying to represent the revolutionary party in Buhera North are Philip Guyo and Tonderai Manakira.
Mukomba is an executive provincial war veteran member and also a businessman running grocery and hardware stores in several business centres in Buhera North.
