ASPAZ awards on next week

MASVINGO-The fourth edition of the Association of Secretaries and Personal Assistance Zimbabwe (ASPAZ) are set to be held on April 14, 2023 at Holiday Inn Hotel in Harare, Faith Mazana one of the organisers told The Midweek Watch.

The awards which are in their fourth year have grown from strength to strength since they started and are now attracting bid corporates and public institutions in the country.

“The Association of Secretaries and Personal Assistants of Zimbabwe’s Awards mandate is to help build up the profession for the benefit of not only the Secretaries but their respective organisations as well.

“Working together we can fast track the development of PAs through rewarding and recognition, which increases retention and helps create a more positive overall workplace. Incorporating a rewards and recognition program helps increase employee engagement, leading to many benefits for the organisation, like increased productivity and retention,” said Mazana.

There are 11 categories of awards that will be honoured on the night and these are; 1.The Rookie of the year Award

2.The Above the Call Award

3.The Achiever Award

4.The Leadership Award

5.The Loyalty Award

6.The Lucy Braizer Award

7.Best event organized by a secretary Award

8.Outstandig achieving Award

9.The “PA” Team Award

10.Secretary of the year Award

11.Best Boss of the year Award

Mazana said nominations will be considered against award-specific criteria as well as the following elements, promotion or demonstration of the core values and behaviours set out in his/her performance competency; Standards: Has the nominee acted (where relevant) with honesty, integrity, impartiality and objectivity?

Measurable benefits: Does the nomination provide evidence that demonstrates how the project or programme is having a notable effect?; Working in partnership: Has the nominee introduced effective joint working arrangements that bring together colleagues, those in other teams, departments or other internal or external organisations?

  Innovation: Has the nominee used innovative approaches, and made the best of technology available, which have resulted in a step up from business as usual and delivered real benefits to end users? and Impact: Has the nominee made an impact beyond their immediate team/department/ministry?

“The following criteria is taken into account when selecting winners; Innovative and creative, leading to new and/or improved program processes 2. Collaborative and resourceful in the workplace 3. Active contributors to the success of their team.

“Delivers administrative excellence within their organisation 5. Willing to go the extra mile in delivering an exceptional customer experience 6. Makes significant contributions to the success of their organisation/department 7. Collaborates successfully with colleagues, community members and business networks 8. Consistently suggests new processes that are more efficient and effective, significantly impacting the productivity in the workplace.

“Makes a positive first impression 10. Serves internal and external customers with professionalism, enthusiasm, and care 11. Committed to personal and professional development – formal courses and/or self-taught values and abilities,” said Mazana.

There are also skills that are considered which include; accountability; commitment; humility; integrity; ownership; proactive (self-starter); self-confidence; self-control; good time management; respect; passion for service delivery; professionalism; workplace ethics; goal oriented; willingness and ability to learn; service-oriented and lastly being focused.

The guest of honor for the event will be advised un due course said Mazana.
