MASVINGO-The Zimbabwe National Army public relations director, Colonel Alphios Makotore has confirmed a fatal accident involving an army truck today at 1am in Mushandike training area, Masvingo.
“A ZNA truck was this morning involved in a fatal road traffic accident in the Mushandike ZNA Training Area near Masvingo.
“The truck driver was negotiating a sharp curve on a steep slope and lost control resulting in the truck rolling down the slope.
“It was raining in the area and the road was very slippery hence the mishap,” said Col Makotore in a statement in our possession.
Col Makotore added that investigations are underway to get the details of the circumstances surrounding the accident and the condition of those injured in the accident.
However, The Midweek Watch is reliably informed that the driver died on the spot and six soldiers were seriously injured and have since been transferred to Harare for further treatment.
