Armed robber pounce on Engen Garage
MIDWEEK REPORTER
A robber brandishing an unknown pistol while wearing a balaclava pounced on Motor Sales Engen Service Station in Masvingo City and made off with US$200 from the tuck shop.
Errol Edwards who runs Motor Sales and Agencies confirmed the robbery, although he said he had no details.
“Yes there was a robbery, but I am yet to get the full details. I will know more in the morning.
Thank you,” texted Edwards.
A source told The Midweek Watch that the robber approached the shopkeeper and demanded cash from her while pointing a gun at her.
The robbery happened today at around 1am.
“I was at the Liquids Nightclub when we heard that there was a robbery at Engen Garage.
“It is said that the robber confronted the lady in the shop demanding cash and when she tried to resist, the robber pulled out a pistol and pointed it at the shopkeeper and fearing for her life she then told him to jump over the counter and collect the money.
“The robber is said to have disappeared towards Landmark Bar, but efforts by Police to follow up on him were in vain as he had vanished into the darkness,” said the source.
