Lovemore Chazingwa in Kadoma
A shocking incident gripped City of Kadoma as a Rimuka suburb resident, Simon Dunguzani, collapsed along Braiding Street and died on the spot.

Eyewitnesses say Simon left his place of residence early morning Wednesday last week, going to a nearby scrapyard premise behind Rimuka Family Maternity Home. Impeccable sources say he was last seen leaving the scrapyard with blood stains tracking his path back home. Those who witnessed his movement said he could not make it home and collapsed a few metres away from his place of residence.
Simon’s body had blood on the mouth and nose, indicating profuse bleeding.
After being contacted, his close relatives quickly called in an ambulance but on arrival, the emergency services crew realized that Simon had already breathed his last.
Dunguzani, 45, is said to have spent the whole day at his usual hang out place near the popular Rimuka Central Shopping Complex.
A friend who walked home with him on the night before his demise said they amicably parted as usual.
“We walked home together and even bought cigarettes for him that he had asked for. We parted at the intersection of Chisanga Avenue and Braiding Street that we usually do each day after work. In the morning I heard by my nephew that there is a man lying on the road who is suspected to be dead. I was surprised and went to find out only to discover that it’s my friend whom I was with the night prior,” said the visibly shaken man only identified as Keith.
When The Midweek Watch crew arrived at the scene, family members present expressed shock over the incident.
“When we arrived to assist him after we received a phone call, we thought it’s just a minor mishap that could be solved by medical intervention. We’re shocked to learn this has ended Simon’s life. I can’t believe it. We failing to come to terms to this as a family. He didn’t complain of any illness save to say he normally had an unusual cough which we never suspected could be this severe,” said an aunt who preferred anonymity.
Meanwhile, another city resident, Connie suddenly collapsed and died on Tuesday. A popular long serving employee at Kadoma Hotel and Conference Centre, was mourning her father’s demise at their rural home in Masvingo province. Connie buried their father last Sunday.
Kadoma is engulfed in grief over the passing on of two of its familiar residents, a son, Simon and a daughter Connie. With Simon Dunguzani’s death the knife stabbing the city feels much deeper while it’s turned many times on the hearts and souls of residents.
