MASVINGO-Youthful lecturer, journalist and play writer from Masvingo province, Charles Munganasa has been appointed to the Zimbabwe Tourism Authority (ZTA) board for a four year term, effective from 31 December 2025 to 31 December 2029.

The appointments were announced by the Minister of Tourism and Hospitality Industry, Barbara Rwodzi recently.
Speaking after his appointment, Munganasa said he was humbled by the recognition, describing it as a reflection of government’s commitment to empowering young people by placing them in positions of influence.
“I am humbled by the appointment as it is a testimony of how the government is committed to creating space for young people in positions of influence,” he said.
Munganasa said his vision for the role is guided by the National Development Strategy 2 (NDS2), aligning with the Ministry of Tourism and Hospitality Industry’s mandate to contribute to Zimbabwe’s attainment of an upper-middle-income economy by 2030.
“The vision is always guided by the national vision as envisioned in NDS2 and narrowed to the role of the ministry of tourism in the realisation of a middle-income economy by 2030. Hence, the vision speaks towards Zimbabwe being a destination of choice as well as growing the impact of domestic tourism,” he said.
Munganasa currently serves as the Director of Content and Channel Services at the Zimbabwe Broadcasting Corporation (ZBC), a role he said complements his new responsibilities at ZTA particularly in the area of tourism content creation and promotion.
“There is a lot of content generation in tourism activities and I am sure the roles will feed into each other,” he said.
He holds a Master’s Degree in Journalism and Digital Media Studies, an Honours Degree in Film and Theatre Arts, a Certificate in Politics and Governance, and a Certificate in Cultural Tourism and Heritage Management.
The ZTA board will be chaired by Farai Chimba, with Lizzie Makwezwa as deputy chairperson. Other members are Charity Magutorima, Jeffreys Manjengwa, Gamuchirai Mangundu, Millicent Sibongile Mombeshora, Godfrey Pasipanodya, Napoleon Nyanhi and Tarirai Musonza. Three other members are yet to be appointed.
