The official opening of rehabilitated Holy Cross Mission Dam and Irrigation scheme is being held today ( 02-08-24) by President Mnangagwa.
The area under irrigation has a thriving wheat plant, fish farming is another major boost on the scheme. Boat cruising is another landmark development that makes the Chirumanzu folks proud and shout the loudest on ” Nyika Inovakwa Nevene Vayo,” idiom.
Holy Cross Mission is the birthplace of the late liberation icon, Leopold Takawira (the Lion of Chirumanzu). He was exhumed from the nearby kopje and re- buried at the National Heroes Acre in 1980.
Takawira Rest in Peace, and the Mhazi clan are now a beacon of hope as they realize what you died for, ” Emancipation from Mental Slavery.”
Those who want to relax and enjoy rural cuisines, lodges are also available at the dam. These projects are being implemented by the Midlands State University and Chinhoyi University of Technology (CUT).
