A view from the mango tree of reigns, rains and reins.

Date:

The political climate in the country is very, very tense. The CCC is making a hullabaloo about the just ended polls and this is very confusing especially to their followers who are having all sorts of hallucinations.

Could this be another impasse like the one in 2008 which triggered the need for a political settlement between ZANU PF and the then MDCs? No one really knows. The CCC has been very quiet and very dormant which has left many wondering if it is part of their strategy or maybe they have just become clueless.

The CCC leader continues to tweet Godisinit but the mantra seems to have other implications because the odds seem to be against them. This time unlike in the last election they did not make any attempt to go to the Constitutional Court probably because they did not have the V11s to nail ZANU PF for election malpractice.

Their followers have been pinning hopes on SADC whom they believed will call for fresh elections or an arrangement that could see His Excellency, the President relinquishing power something very unlikely since they don’t have anything on him to illegitimise his reign.

The SADC Troika converged a meeting and Zimbabwe was part of the agenda but nothing as expected by the CCC was decided.  Anyway, the issue is not about CCC or whoever has the reins but it is about the economy and social status quo of the generality of the public.

It is high time that as Zimbabweans we embrace unity and ditch anarchy and the ‘haivhiyiwi’ modus operandi. It is crucial that the major political players find common ground that will definitely bring smiles to the electorate irrespective of their political affiliation.

Sanctions need to go and all reasonable electoral and democratic reforms done. That will create a better Zimbabwe. During the reign of the late Robert Mugabe the economy was in deep muddy waters and the Second Republic is fighting to put everything back in place.

Although a tedious task and many doubting its potential there have been some significant changes. His Excellency acknowledges that Rome was not built in a day and hence the reason he drafted  Vision 2030.

Anyway its not about who reigns or who has the reins, the employment issues need address, the health sector still needs a lot of redress and infrastructural development is still another area which is still demanding.

On Thursday the 26th I saw the Honourable Member of Parliament for Mwenezi North Constituency Master Makope delivering fence for a garden in Chizumba in Ward 7.

Also present was Ward 7 Councillor Killion Murabarari. The people of Mwenezi are pinning all their hopes on Master Makope. May God take the reins and stand by those chosen by the people to reign.

The Meteorological Department has prophesied doom to the nation with their prediction of a dry agricultural season.

El Nino conditions are not agriculture friendly. The Agricultural extension officers are encouraging people to practice conservation farming techniques which have greater moisture retention to counter these El Nino conditions.

The rains have started to fall in most parts of Zimbabwe but not much to warranty the kick start of the farming season. May God take the reigns and give us the rain. Thats the prayer even of my friends deep down in Boterere.

In soccer circles, locally the sport still needs a lot  to be desired. What else can be said with the violence at Barbourfields stadium when Bosso played Dembare. That’s not acceptable especially considering this is not the first time that violence has erupted whenever the two clubs meet.

Violence especially with political and tribalistic connotations must be dealt with indefinitely. The EPL is fascinating as Manchester city rides on the glory cloud with victory after victory not forgetting sterling performances from Liverpool.

Arsenal cannot go unmentioned with their quality football but lack of consistency. Manchester United and Chelsea continue to bite the dust. I mentioned the two because they are the biggest clubs struggling to hit the notch.

In Arts the Masvingo Achievement Awards (MAA) is by the corner. I silently pray that this year it will be bigger and better. Remember last year some paid hefty amounts to be in the VIP section only to spend the night looking at an empty plate with toothpicks.

The awards certificates had spelling errors and the nominees complained of nepotism and stuff that recognised most urban artists as if it was a Masvingo town event. Hope the organiser, Director Donovan Takaendesa pulls together a team that will ensure a better and greater MAA.

Zvine munyu ndozvinei. The tame the traffic jungle is on. Hameno if the operation will tame the traffic jungle. I always argue with Paul Dhlamini who sides with Inter Africa that Stallion Cruise ndoine chimuti.

Hey, I hope the taming of the traffic jungle will address the speed issues and the Stallion-Inter Africa rivalry. Speed yachoka!!!
