HARARE-The situation at St Faith’s High School has returned to normalcy after the Ministry of Primary and Secondary Education convened a stakeholders meeting with the warring parties to iron out their differences.

In a statement in possession of The Midweek Watch, the education ministry says the situation at the Anglican Church run school is now under control and learners are attending lessons.

“The Ministry today met with the members of the Responsible Authority (The Anglican church), the school development committee and MoPSE officials. During the meeting all sticking issues were resolved amicably,” reads part of the statement.

The Ministry added that the parties agreed to create a safe and healthy learning environment at the school and allow teaching to continue without any hindrance.

The intervention by the ministry was necessitated by the unrest which rocked the school recently resulting learners marchin in protest against the Church to the Rusape District Schools Inspector with a petition.

Tempers flared at the Anglican owned school in Rusape over a US$600 Mission fund after the school authorities tried to bar form five students who had not paid the Mission fund from entering the school premises.

The Mission fund is said to be almost equivalent to the school’s tuition fees and has been a bone of contention between the school authorities and parents, resulting in chaos during school opening.

The SDC was dismissed by the Church as they were opposed to the contentious Mission fund which they felt was exorbitant.

The Church has accused the school head of instigating students to protest against the fund and are agitating for his removal from one of the best schools in the country, which tops in both A and O Level results.
