GWERU-The ZRP has launched a manhunt for a gang of robbers who pounced on Zimbabwe Red Cross Society offices in Gweru and stole property worth US$16 150.
Midlands police spokesperson Inspector Emmanuel Mahoko confirmed the incident that occurred at 3am today (9/9/23).
He told The Midweek Watch that the three unknown man forcibly opened the main door, entered the manager’s office and stole 3 laptops.
They then confronted and wrestled the female complainant who was on night duty and seized her cellphone.
“The complainant in turn sprayed two of the suspects with a pepper spray and they briefly disappeared before returning to join their colleague who had remained inside,” added Insp Mahoko.
He said the suspects went on to manhandle the complainant, tied her hands and legs with wire and straps.
They forcibly “opened the accountant’s office and took a safe, blasted it open and stole US$1 502 cash, a Samsung cellphone, a mini projector, adaptor and a solar battery”.
Mahoko said the matter was reported to the police who swiftly attended the scene, while the complainant was taken to the hospital where she was treated and discharged.
