MASVINGO-Tabudemo Chishaka (41) of village Mandivenga under Chief Budzi in Bikita has been jailed 15 years for raping his nine year old niece in a toilet.
The court, presided over by Magistrate Archie Wochiunga, heard that on February 22 2026 at around 4pm, the victim was on her way to buy tomatoes in the village when the accused, who is her uncle, approached her.
Prosecutor Precious Takuva told the court that Chishaka grabbed the child by the hand and dragged her into a nearby disused toilet, where he raped her.
After the rape, the uncle threatened the victim not to tell anyone about the incident and promised to buy her a drink. He then left the scene and instructed her to come out only after he had gone.
The offence remained undisclosed until the following day when the complainant’s grandmother noticed that the child was having difficulty in sitting.
Upon questioning her, the girl revealed what had happened.
The grandmother later accompanied the child to report the matter to the police on February 25 2026, leading to investigations and the arrest of Chishaka.
A medical examination was conducted on the victim and the report was produced in court as evidence.
