“Duma Budding Writers Club will on Friday this week launch a number of books produced by the learners.

“We have learners like Pauline Luwes who wrote a book titled ‘The old man in the village’. The story describes people who drink beer, and the author outlined that it is not the beer that makes someone to misbehave but the one who drinks should drink responsibly,” he said.

He said another writer Delma Marange also wrote a Shona book entitled ‘Marara Imari’, which encourages people to recycle plastics, metals and glass and earn money rather than throwing them away.

“By recycling, the author author encourages communities to empower themselves through picking litter for recycling,” he said.

He said another author Nadine Mazarire wrote ‘Nhanga’, a traditional story from the teachings gathered by young girls during their early days

“We have another writer who produced a Shona novel titled ‘Munhu Munhu’, this book is intended to educate the public that people should not be stereotyped, stigmatised or discriminated.

“In the book, the author encourages families to unite, respect and care for each other regardless of levels of ability and educational levels.

“Narrations in Munhu Munhu are a reflection of disheartening untold stories that happen in various communities across the country.  Munhu Munhu teaches us to accept people as they are,” he said.
