The City of Masvingo truck stop situated between Exor Service Centre and Flamboyant Hotel is taking shape and is due for completion in 2026.

Masvingo City Mayor, Cllr Aleck Tabe told The Midweek Watch that construction is ongoing and they project to finish the long awaited truck stop in 2026.
Tabe said the total budget for the project is $88,000, funded under the City Council’s broader infrastructure development strategy.
The facility is aimed at easing transit problems faced by mostly regional truck drivers, who sometimes are exposed to robbers as they sleep at unsafe places along the busy Beitbridge Masvingo Road.
Tabe confirmed that construction began earlier this year and, due to the number of ongoing infrastructure projects in the city, completion is scheduled for next year.
“This is a key development in our infrastructure improvement plan, and we are committed to delivering the truck stop despite competing priorities,” the Mayor said.
Once completed, the truck stop will offer a range of services including secure parking for up to 69 heavy vehicles, ablution facilities, rest areas for drivers, offices for logistics coordination, and basic maintenance services.
In addition, the site will be equipped with security features such as a perimeter fence, CCTV and will include accommodation designed as lodges to both improve local accommodation facilities and provide comfort for truck drivers in transit.
Initially, trucks will be charged a parking fee of $3, which will be reviewed as operations begin.
This truck stop is expected to significantly reduce roadside parking, improve traffic flow, and stimulate economic activity linked to transport and logistics. It also brings job opportunities for local residents and contributes to enhanced service delivery in the city.
As Masvingo continues to position itself as a strategic logistics hub, this project reflects the Council’s commitment to long-term urban development and regional economic growth.
