MUTARE-Melody Mutanda (22) of Garikai Phase 1 in Chikanga who was eight months pregnant died after drinking rat poison following a quarrel with her husband over infidelity issues.
Manicaland Province acting police spokesperson Assistant Inspector Wiseman Chinyoka told The Midweek Watch that Mutanda died at Victoria Chitepo Provincial Hospital where she had been taken to by her brother in law, Tendai Mabonese who reacted to a distress call from the deceased.
Mutanda on Monday, 13 January at around 12pm phoned Mabonese and informed him about the quarrel to which he quickly drove from Dangamvura to Chikanga and found the deceased writhing in agony and confessed that she had taken rat poison.
He drove her to the hospital where she was admitted in the maternity ward since she was eight months pregnant, unfortunately she could not make it.
