…several miners trapped in mine tunnel

Gweru- Kwekwe’s Globe and Phoenix Primary School classroom block has collapsed due to illegal mining activities beneath and several illegal miners are feared to have been trapped as well this morning, a reliable source has told The Midweek Watch.
Seven pupils were injured as they fell into the mine tunnel that was being worked on by the illegal artisanal miners under the classroom block.
The injured pupils have been admitted at Kwekwe District Hospital.
Midlands Provincial Education Director, Jameson Machimbira could not be reached for a comment on his mobile phone.
There are fears that the illegal miners trapped in the tunnel could die due to suffocation.
Over the years there have been several warnings that Globe and Phoenix will one day give in due to illegal mining activities going underground at the school, but they have been ignored as the miners are allegedly connected to some powerful people in the district which is rich in gold.
