ZVISHAVANE – A colourful graduation ceremony saw 450 pupils being capped at Tonganyika Trust Skills Center for completing different courses which allow them to earn a living.
The graduation was graced by Zvishavane-Ngezi Zanu PF candidate Mecky Jaravaza for August 23 elections as the guest of honor, accompanied by Gerald Gumbo, Zanu PF secretary for youth lshmael Chamisa. Midlands Province Provincial chairperson for Small to Medium Enterprises, Bigboy Murenga and his vice chairperson, Sally Magodowa.
The graduands were taught courses on baking, beauty therapy, welding, dispensary assistant, Early Childhood Development teaching, driving, detergents making and hotel and catering.
The courses ran for two weeks and were paid for by Zanu PF and the next port of call is Mberengwa District.
Five teachers took the participants through the course which included women, youth, men and the elderly.
The students has the opportunity to exhibit their products which included cakes, detergents in their groups of 20 each.
Jaravaza pledged to assist the students with resources and starter packs in their future endeavors after graduation.
One graduate expressed gratitude for the program, saying it came as a relief to the youth as they can now venture into the job market with a certificate in hand.
“I was doing baking and l have learnt a lot to mix creams and make a well baked cake. This course came as big relief to us because it was free of charge what we needed was only our presence.
“Now all that we want are the resources to start our own things because we now have the requisite skills courtesy of Zanu PF,” he said.
