ZAKA- Thompson Charambira (pictured below), Reformed Church in Zimbabwe run Jichidza High School head in Zaka District has retired after being in the education sector for 41years on the bounce.

Charambira joined the profession after enrolling at Hillside Teacher’s College and served in the ministry, rising through the ranks to become the head at one of the most respected schools in the country, Jichidza High.
Charambira’s educational journey started at Nhangwi Primary School in Zimuto before proceeding to Zimuto Mission for Secondary level studies.
He enrolled at Hillside Teacher’s College where he trained as a secondary school teacher.
“I grew up as a teacher because I joined the teaching profession at a very tender age and I never looked back.
“I joined Jichidza Misson as a Science teacher majoring in Biology and Extended Science which is equivalent to Physical Science today. I was elevated to be deputy head at the school after becoming a senior teacher at the school for a number of years.
“I became a substantive head at Jichidza Mission High School in 2019 up to the time of retirement on December 31, 2025,” he said.
Charambira who is a holder of Bachelor of Science Education Honours degree was instrumental in the school’s science education.
“I was the school’s Head of Department (HOD) in the field of sciences and I was a team leader for ZIMSEC Ordinary Level marking. I was also the Zimta Jichidza Branch chairperson and Central Deacon for Jichidza Dutch Congregation.
“At district level, I was the NASH chairperson for a long period and before my retirement I was in the provincial executive as the vice secretary general,” he said.
He encouraged those who are taking over to give it all their best for the school to continue producing excellent results.
“Leadership role is like a relay, you pass on the button stick to someone. As such, I say the game is not over yet. Let’s continue working hard as our school motto says: With Perseverance we Succeed,” he concluded.
