Over 400 participants received certificates in class 2 driving, bakery, mortician, welding, detergents formulation and cosmetology after completing the short training courses.

The ceremony was held at the Dendenyore Business Center in Dendenyore Ward 7 of Hwedza District.

The program is part of the ruling party’s efforts to empower rural communities with practical skills to advance the government’s Vision 2030 of achieving an Upper Middle Class Income Economy.

Minister Ndudzo applauded the Trust’s initiatives and urged the graduates to utilize their newfound skills in nation-building, and invited the Tanganyika Trust to expand the trainings across Mashonaland East Province.

The Hwedza South lawmaker, Tinoda Machakaire lauded the Tonganyika Trust and the ruling party for empowering women, youth, the disabled and the elderly through the training program.

“The skills are meant to improve livelihoods and do away with a dependency syndrome, and develop and strengthen community resilience,” said Machakaire.

He pledged to donate vehicles for the driving lessons to support the program.

The Ministry of Youth Empowerment and Vocational Training’s Permanent Secretary, Solomon Mhlanga, highlighted government fiscal support measures for youth, such as the Youth Empowerment Bank and SMEDCO.

He encouraged the youth to prioritize employment creation over job hunting.
