‎4 foreigners nabbed in Penhalonga for smuggling

‎Four Mozambican nationals were arrested on August 2, 2025, in Penhalonga for allegedly smuggling goods and driving an unregistered motorcycles.

Manicaland province acting police spokesperson, Assistant Inspector Wiseman Chinyoka told The Midweek Watch thatofficers on traffic blitz duty at Penhalonga Shops along Liverpool Road intercepted two unregistered Lifan motorcycles laden with second hand clothes.

‎The accused, identified as, Sam Ferninando (25), Takudzwa Lovemore Gondo (25), Rosemary Muzondirwa (50), and Mary Nyadombo (43), were found riding the unregistered bikes and carrying second-hand clothes, suspected to have been smuggled from Mozambique.

‎Police investigations revealed that the suspects had crossed into Zimbabwe through the Monarch illegal entry point. Each motorcycle was carrying two 50kg sacks of clothes, with the passengers seated atop the goods.

‎The motorcycles, clothing, and all four suspects were taken to ZRP Penhalonga for further investigation.

‎The unregistered motorcycles are set to be seized by ZIMRA, while accused are under police custody as investigations continue.
