Lower Gweru-Three children from Maboleni area in Lower Gweru are battling for their lives in hospital after their father laced their food with poison before committing suicide last Friday over a dispute with his wife.
The incident was reportedly driven by a dispute which occurred between the man and his wife on Friday 24 March 2023 at about 8pm.
The three children aged 12, 8 and 7 are currently admitted at Gweru Provincial Hospital where they are receiving treatment as they are in serious condition.
Midlands Provincial Police spokesperson, Inspector Emmanuel Mahoko urged people to seek guidance whenever there are disputes between them.
“Investigations on the unfortunate incident are still in progress and we take this opportunity to reiterate our calls for members of the public to seek assistance from professional counsellors or community leaders whenever they are faced with a dispute,” said Mahoko.

The selling of cattle. At about 12pm Ncube ran away to her parents’ home as a result of the dispute and left the three children in the custody of their father.
At around 8pm, Bongani prepared porridge, laced it with an unknown poison and gave the three children before he left
for an unknown destination.
The children were discovered lying unconsciously outside the house by a passer-by and a report was made at Zimbabwe Republic Police Maboleni Station.
On the following day at 8am Mahole’s body was found hanging from a tree in a bush area by his wife about a kilometer from their homestead.
Police attended the scene, the three children and the deceased’s body were taken to Gweru Provincial Hospital.
