MASVINGO-The Ministry of Transport and Infrastructure Development has announced plans to tar three key roads in Masvingo Province during the course of this year.
The move by the Ministry is aimed at improving access to essential services and boosting economic activity in rural communities across the province.
The roads earmarked for tarring include Makwi-Neshuro Road in Mwenezi, Bhuka–Mashava Road in Masvingo Rural, and Mpandawana-Kurai Road in Gutu District which has been on the pipeline since time immemorial.
Speaking to The Midweek Watch, Masvingo Province Roads Engineer Augustine Chigwereve said, ” A total of 12 kilometres of the Makwi-Neshuro Road, which links communities to Neshuro District Hospital in Mwenezi, will be tarred.
“The project is expected to significantly improve access to healthcare services for residents in the area.
“In Bhuka, Mashava, 10 kilometres of road will be tarred to benefit communal farmers, improving the transportation of agricultural produce to markets and service centres.”
He went on to state that, 12 kilometres of the Mpandawana-Kurai Road will be upgraded to provide a reliable link between the community and the town, enhancing mobility and easing travel for residents.
Engineer Chigwevere also revealed that several other road projects are in the pipeline, these include Kapota Road, Zimuto Road, and Silveira-Maregere Road, which are expected to be considered for future development as resources become available.
The road rehabilitation programme is part of the government’s broader infrastructure development strategy aimed at improving rural connectivity and supporting socio-economic growth across Masvingo Province.
