2 toddlers drown in disused pit

Date:

CHIPINGE-AS DROWNING cases continue to surge, the ZRP confirms a tragic incident in which two male infants, aged 5 and 6, drowned in an abandoned pit while swimming at Muradzikwa Village in Chipinge on 24 February.

The victims, along with their 7-year-old sister, were left at home while their grandmother attended a funeral in the neighbourhood.

The three children went to the nearby pit to swim, resulting in the tragic drowning of the two victims.

“As police we continue to urge parents and guardians not to leave children unattended near water bodies especially during the rainy season,” said national police spokesperson, Commissioner Paul Nyathi.
