…as Chikomba Central is collapsed

CHIKOMBA-President Mnangagwa has collapsed Minister of Transport and Infrastructure Development, Felix Mhona’s constituency, Chikomba Central in the final delimitation report released earlier this week.

The collapse of Chikomba Central implies that Minister Mhona will square off against Minister of Industry and Commerce and academic, Sekai Nzenza in the forthcoming Zanu PF primary elections who is the current Chikomba East legislator.

Chikomba Central had17 021 registered voters and has been collapsed and merged with Chikomba East which has a total of 25 844 registered voters. Nine out of 10 wards in Chikomba Central have been moved to Chikomba East while one ward went to Chikomba West which has a total of 32 629 registered voters.

Mhona will tussle with Nzenza for the right to represent the revolutionary party in mid-year mouthwatering harmonized elections. In an interview with The Midweek Watch, Mhona said nothing has changed except names and number of wards. He said his constituency now is Chikomba East.

“Our homes are still in Chikomba and to me nothing has fundamentally changed besides the name of the Constituency. Nine wards out of 10 in the now abolished Chikomba Central are now part of Chikomba East. I am already in Chikomba East, I am a registered voter under ward 23 so we have a Constituency,” said Mhona.

Mhona has been dishing out goodies and startup capitals as well as holding football tournaments in his constituency ever since he won the election which has made him a darling across the district, something that may work in his favour to become the Zanu PF candidate.
