MBERENGWA-Evangelical Lutheran Church in Zimbabwe (ELCZ) run Mnene High School has maintained its status as the pride of Mberengwa District in arts subjects with two of its students scoring 50 points in 2022 ZIMSEC ‘A’ Level examinations.
The outstanding students are males, Mufaro Sibanda and Tenenti Mufarowashe who got 5As in Accounts, Business Studies, Pure Maths, Statistics and Economics. The second best is a girl Sharon Hove with 23 points in the same subjects combination.
Mnene High which is in Chief Maziofa area had 58 students who set for the 2022 ZIMSEC examinations.
Seven students who wrote four subjects each i.e Business Studies, Pure Maths, Statistics, Economics and Accounts had 20 points each. Three have 19 points where the best girl in Arts is Tsitsidzashe Shoko who got History A, Geography B, FRS A and Lit in English A.
The school had four students with 15points in three subjects among Accounts, Pure Maths, Statistics and Business studies.
“We are very pleased with the November 2022 A’ level results, we have maintained a 100% pass rate achieved throughout the years since 2015 save for 2020 when we obtained 98.6%. We are very proud of this consistency. We are also the only school in the district with 2 candidates who obtained 25 points (5As). We enjoy the good results thanks to hardworking staff and the full support of the ELCZ (the Responsible Authority) and the parents. We are very grateful for this and we are fully energized to work even harder to maintain and improve on the standards that we havc set for ourselves,” said Mnene High headmaster Francis Hove.
Mnene is widely known for offering arts and commercial subjects over the years, but Hove added that there is hope for the school to start offering science subjects this year.
He said, “We will continue to work very hard and expand our subject areas from commercial(Business Studies, Economics, Accounts, Mathematics and Statistics) and Arts(History, Shona, Lit in English and FRS) to sciences and offering Pure Mathematics, Computer Science, Statistics, Geography and Crop Science in 2023,”.
