Gokwe- Police confirms two hit and run fatal road traffic accidents where two men died on the spot after being struck by motor vehicles in two separate accidents.
The accidents occurred along Kwekwe – Gokwe and Matobo roads on 26 May 2024.
Midlands Provincial Police Spokesperson, Inspector Emmanuel Mahoko confirmed the incidents.
“We are appealing for information that can lead to the identification of both vehicles and the drivers who were involved in the two accidents to approach any nearest Police station.
“We also appeal for those missing a male relative to approach Gweru Traffic and assist in the identification.” Mahoko said
The deceased in the first incident was identified as Freddy Mancala (58) of Magiya Village under Chief Malisa, Zhombe. He was hit by an unknown motor vehicle along Kwekwe – Gokwe road. The motor vehicle did not stop.
The deceased was discovered by Kwekwe Traffic Police who were on patrol along the high way.
In the other incident an unknown man died in a hit and run accident which occurred along Matobo – Gweru road on 26 May 2024 at around 0450 hours.
A passerby discovered the body lying at the edge of the road and reported to the Police. Police found the body with head injuries and multiple fractures on both hands.
The man is suspected to have been hit by a speeding motorist who did not stop after the accident.
