2 juveniles found floating in weir

Date:

MIDWEEK REPORTER

CHIPINGE-Christopher Maweni (13) and Christoper Zvinei (11) all of Masheyani Compound, Tingamira Tea Estate under Chief Mutema in Chipinge were found floating in Chipita Dam on March 31 in the morning.

On March 29 at around 10am the two left home to head cattle, but did not come back by day end and curiously their parents did not bother to look for them according to Manicaland Province Police acting spokesperson, Assistant Inspector Wiseman Chinyoka, as they assumed that they had visited some relatives and would eventually come back.

On the third day, the boys’ bodies were found floating in the dam by Leonard Ndumeya (17) who was on his way to Paidamoyo Secondary School.

Leonard informed Andrew Mtetwa (65) of Plot 15 Vermont B Village under Chief Mutema who went on to make a police report at Chipinge Rural.

The police took the bodies to Chipinge District Hospital mortuary for postmortem.

Chinyoka advised parents and guardians not allow children to wander around especially during the rainy season as they risk being swept away or drowning in water bodies that are not protected and found everywhere.
