GWERU—Police in the Midlands have arrested a 37-year-old man after detectives intercepted a consignment of prepared dagga at the city’s busiest transport hub, as authorities renewed clampdown on drug trafficking.

Confirming the arrest, Midlands police spokesperson Inspector Emmanuel Mahoko said the suspect was nabbed yesterday (February 16, 2025) at around 11am at Kudzanayi Bus Terminus following a tip-off.
“A team of detectives from CID Drugs and Narcotics, Midlands Province, acting on information, intercepted the suspect as he was in the process of receiving a consignment of prepared dagga,” Mahoko said.
Police identified the suspect as Danisa Ncube of Section 3, Mtapa, Gweru.

Insp Mahoko said a search conducted at the scene led to the recovery of 16 shrink wrapped cobs of prepared dagga, packaged in two separate parcels.
Ncube was taken into custody and is expected to appear in court on Wednesday, February 18, 2026, as investigations continue.
Mahoko warned that dealing in or possessing dangerous drugs without a licence is a serious offence.
“We urge members of the public with information that can help identify and arrest those involved in drug dealing to come forward,” he said. “Safeguarding our future from the scourge of drugs is a collective responsibility.”
Police said operations against drug trafficking will be sustained across the province as authorities move to disrupt supply chains and protect communities.
