MASVINGO – A thirteen year old boy from Village Chikwanda under Chief Chikwanda in Masvingo has been sentenced to a wholly suspended five-year jail term by Masvingo Provincial Magistrate Bishard Chineka for aggravated assault and rape.
While Chineka convicted and passed a jail term on the juvenile for sodomising a six-year-old boy and raping his victim’s two-year-old sister, the Magistrate ruled that he could not go to jail as he was still a minor. The prison term was conditionally suspended for five years.
The court heard thaton 8 September, 2022 in Chikwanda village the juvenile took advantage of the fact that the two minors were alone in an isolated place and sexually abused them. Their cries for help were in vain as nobody was within vicinity to rescue them.
The whole issue however came to light after the two-year-old toddler complained of having pain in her privates to her mother. She then enquired what had transpired and the six year old boy narrated the whole ordeal in detail.
A report was filed at Muchakata Police Station and medical examinations were conducted at Mogenster Hospital on 16 September, 2022.
