The Zimbabwe Republic Police (ZRP) has confirmed a fatal road traffic accident in Zvishavane that claimed the life of a 36-year-old man and left another injured.
The Midlands provincial police spokesperson, Inspector Emmanuel Mahoko, said the accident occurred on October 1, 2025, at around 4:45 pm along the Gudo–Mhototi gravel road, about 1km from Zvishavane Town.
“The now deceased, Tapiwa Mhlanga (36) of Majambila Village, Chief Mazvihwa in Zvishavane, died on the spot after sustaining severe head injuries,” said Insp Mahoko.
He said the accident involved a Toyota Fun Cargo being driven by Tadiwa Hove of Dovengwe Village, Chief Mazvihwa, Zvishavane, with Mhlanga as a passenger.
“On approaching the 1km peg, the vehicle veered off the road to the left and rammed into a tree.
Mhlanga died instantly while the driver, Hove, was rushed to Zvishavane District Hospital where he is admitted and reported to be in a stable condition,” said Insp Mahoko.
Police have urged motorists to exercise extreme caution on the roads.
“We continue to remind drivers to be alert and responsible when behind the wheel in order to prevent the unnecessary loss of lives,” Insp Mahoko said.
